Star Trek Into Darkness has really up’d the game this summer. It’s going to take something truly epic to take Into Darkness off the top spot in my opinion, looking at you Man of Steel. The story is very good and benefits from the always brilliant plot driver revenge, someone’s really not happy. The acting was great had the same brilliant performances from the first film with the added bonus of Benedict Cumberbatch being full on badass! We also get some great dialogue going in this film, decided to not put a spoiler one in the first paragraph but it’s a great line anyway. Unlike Iron Man 3 you will quote this films villain. Science fiction wise this film gave logic a slight beating but nothing that would make stop and think what? The visuals are just spectacular and it’s the first film this year that I saw any reason to put a pair of 3D glasses on, also recommending full IMAX for this one. Bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.

About these ads

This week looks to be something of Star Trek week. Yay! Nerdy posts. So with the release of Star Trek Into Darkness this weekend I thought it was time we Star Trek fans and even those who have just ventured into this world should decide who was the best Captain of the USS Enterprise. This is purely who you think did the best and who you liked the most. How you decide is up to you, I will not venture one way or the other but simple put some facts before you and let you decide. And of course with any of my features there will be funny videos for anyone who simply doesn’t all that much care. Enjoy and get voting.

With the release of Star Trek Into Darkness this weekend I thought it would be a great time to review part 1 in the nerdiest reboot of all time. This Star Trek was a shockingly good film when it came out and I was very impressed when I first saw, so angry I didn’t get to see in IMAX but either watching it on a phone or the big screen this film was excellent. The story was clever and allowed for both an origin story of the original and a whole new path for the franchise, Abram’s you sneaky Bastard. The cast is great and I loved their interpretations of the characters, some interesting choices for the roles but they paid off with some great performances. The visuals are amazing and are truly breath-taking, from the halls of the Enterprise to the epic battles in space. The science fiction is fascinating but for the new generation a little heart pounding action is required and that’s what this film does well in many different ways. I hope you all enjoy the new Star Trek this weekend and come back for my review on Friday. Live long and prosper \\//.

This massive Wondercon trailer is one gigantic and beautiful scene after another. This film is really trying to beat the idea of giant scale into our minds and personally it’s working for me. I will be watching this film in IMAX, it will be the best film ever made and as God as my witness Del Toro will get an Oscar! On my previous review of Trailer #1 I confessed my ridiculous excitement for this film, and clearly this trailer doesn’t help, I might actually go crazy waiting for this! The thing you notice about the trailer is a lot more behind the scenes detail such as the command center and well just people in general, and we see Charlie day for the first time talking about understanding the enemy (he is a scientist). Then we go over a few scenes showing how the Jaegers work with mind melding and such. We also get an insight into how the war with the Kaiju has been going, but after that its 2,500 tonnes of awesome with lots and lots of battle scenes and Giant Robot action! 12th July save the date!

Week Hiatus

Posted: April 28, 2013 in Best of Films

Just a short one guys. This week I have a lot of work to do and so will not be posting anything. Might be posting something over the weekend but nothing else. I am sure you’re all devastated (Ha) that you won’t be able to read my wonderful words for a whole week, but you must find a way to handle this like adults.

However if you cannot handle going cold turkey make sure to check out my Iron Man 3 Review.

Pretty Much How I Feel

So wish me luck and I will read and write soon.

Iron Man 3 the first of this summer’s superhero films was very good but not the best. The story is strong and draws this strength from a brilliant comic arc which is one of my favourites called Extremis, it did take some liberties. The acting was great benefiting from some fantastic new additions to the cast, Pierce, Kingsley. Good dialogue but I expect something juicy to quote from, like a villain (Complaints for this are in spoiler section) or Hero. As a superhero film something was just off, still very good but some themes just didn’t work for me. The visuals are amazing and will in no way disappoint, the new extremis armour is great and you get to see a lot of interesting tech and powers. Bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.

Not the best trailer but the films quite far off so let’s call this one a teaser and praise it for that. Plenty of interesting scenes going on in this trailer, got battles, new characters, new villains, old villains and London for some reason. Easily one of the weirdest starts to a trailer, it starts off with a shot of London, then it goes to a floating truck, and for the first 40 seconds I have no idea what’s going on. Who’s is that voice over in the beginning? I don’t recognize it but I like it. My biggest complaint at this trailer is how scattered and unorganized it is, far more reminiscent of a teaser. Also think there is a massive spoiler going on in this trailer, so massive I think it’s just a tease as it would be unbelievable to show in a trailer. So onto the trailer and my top scenes and don’t forget to leave your comments at the end.
