5 Best Marvel Films Amendment

Oops turns out Hellboy is actually Dark Horse Comics my bad and not marvel so in its place I chosen Blade 2 hope you agree with my choice, funnily enough turns out to be another Guillermo del Toro film so good for him. 5 Worst Marvel Films will be released later today.

Blade II (2002)

Well my mistake brings me the chance to talk about blade 2 which is my favourite of the series and just to state blade 1 was good, blade trinity was awful. Four years after scoring a box-office touchdown with Blade (1998), actor Wesley Snipes returns to portray the Marvel Comics character again in this sequel that teams him with Mexican horror director Guillermo del Toro. A half-vampire, half-human hybrid, Blade (Snipes) is a merciless vampire hunter bent on destroying the bloodsuckers that feed on humanity. Yeah let’s slice up some mutant vampires.

Blade 2 takes what works in the original (the brilliant fight scenes and quick story pace) and gives us more (not just vampire’s mutant vampires). The premise of a new threat to both vampires and humans is very clever because it means blade must work with the vampire elite which obviously will cause their hatred of each other to bubble to the surface which makes for great viewing. Thomas Kretschmann’s performance as the leader of the mutant pack was fantastic and I found his career rather interesting. Ron Perlman makes everything a bit light hearted because it’s hard to take him seriously but his comedic touch was needed on this film and worked well. My favourite scene would have to be the one on one fight scene between Blade and Damaskinos, mainly because of the way they seemed so even and this always makes a good long fight in a film.

I actually prefer the first movie myself, my Top 5 though would be…

    1. X2
    2. Spider-Man 2
    3. Thor
    4. Iron Man
    5. X-Men First Class

That said I think THE AVENGERS may well end up the best of them all.

I saw all three films, and I agree: Two was definitely the best.
