Carrie (Trailer #1) Review

Now I don’t mind remakes, never really bothered me as long as they are done well, a good films a good. However I did get worried about this one getting remade because it is a favourite of mine, but after watching the teaser trailer it looked crazy good. It had blood and destruction, looked great. This trailer however has a few things I am not sure about. Starting with the bad, Chloë Grace Moretz still looks fantastic. Why is that bad Tim? Well she is supposed to be mercilessly bullied into a murderous rage, but I am just not seeing the same realism as in the first film. More later on. The good, Julianne Moore and Chloë seem to be pulling off that crazy ass mother daughter relationship. That’s a difficult couple of scenes to deal with but they seem to be doing the original film justice. As for the rest of the trailer please read on for my favourite scenes.

My Score: B-

Carrie White is a lonely and awkward teen who is constantly bullied at school by her peers, and beaten at home at the hands of her religious mother. But Carrie has a secret: She’s been blessed with the terrifying power of telekinesis; and when her peers decide to pull a prank on her at prom, they’ll soon learn a deadly lesson: If you play with fire, you get burned.

Top 5 Scenes

5. Meet The Bullies

Why do high schools in the US have nothing but 25 year old models as students? Madness! The scene is super iconic as one of the original films most dramatic moments. Not sure it’s going to be quite as realistic as the original but it looks pretty much the same.

4. Carries Naughty Room

Here poor Carrie having to cope with both a school full of bullies and a mother who is a strict puritan Christian and punishes innocent Carrie by locking her in a dark room. It’s the perfect representative of the trappings her mother holds on her life. It’s also the first scene showing Carrie with her powers.

3. Floating Her Room

Here Carrie is showing off her clear control over her Telekinesis, something never touched on in the original as it was more of an emotion reaction. I love anything Telekinesis related, flouting stuff with my mind, I totally want that!

2. Carrie Stopping Car Dead

Oh it looks so damn cool! I want to see that full scene and I want it to be an epic car smashing blood soaked destruction of the entire town! In the original we get a prom death and destruction but only see a small section of her leaving, this film however looks to extending this to total town destruction. Yeah!

1. Fire, Blood and Prom

Boom! That’s the scene we’re all going to see this film for. The bloodiest slaughtering of nicely dressed teens who lets face deserve it. Hate young people! Go Carrie, kill’em all! Okay lets end the crazy me rants. Chloë looks kick ass and I can’t wait to see this scene in its full. Look at that fire and blood.

Well that’s my views. Now what do you think about this newest trailer?

Really not a big fan of that trailer. It looks like all they did was re make the original movie and still didn’t really bring the book to life. I’ll see it because I’m curious, but it will probably be a rental. Nice review.

yep. I’m looking forward to this remake and the scenes you point out. The car one is going to be great I think too. It is interesting seeing Julianne and Chloe together in this film. They seem to bring the dynamic of their relationship full circle in a good way. We’ll see.

      Yes we will 😀

Glad your looking forward to it, i am getting less impressed with the more I see of it. Maybe i am just getting remake fatigue. I’ll still be watching it 😀

Thank you so much for liking this post, you put me into an even number! I have bloggers OCD 😀

I’m not overly keen on remakes myself and when I heard that this was announced way back when I pretty much shook my head and asked why. But the more I see of this more I am interested. I’ve never seen the original but I know of it and seen many references and parodies, I am only interested because Chloë Grace Moretz is in it, rock on Hit-Girl! XD

You’ve known how I feel about this trailer. I am trying to still keep my mind open for the movie.
I honestly thought Saorse Ronan can be a better Carrie

I haven’t seen the original. The trailer is decent, the part where the mom says now go pray in your closet is creepy.

How did I miss this? I never get your emails and these don’t appear in my reader….??

Nice post – I think this looks good but I doubt I’ll make it to the theater for it. For me to go see a horror, since my wife won’t go to any, I have to take a day off of work and hit the movies. This doesn’t look like it’s gonna be “burn my vacation time” good…

As a massive Stephen King fan I have to say that 98% of the adaptations of his books are rubbish so I am not expecting much. 🙂

Not too excited about this really.

The poster is quite sensational. I’m curious to see how Chloë Grace Moretz would do in the role, though it’s not a genre I’m fond of, as you already know 😀

I’m still iffy with regards to this remake. Sissy Spacek’s portrayal of the character being so iconic, so in tune with the outsider persona that was Carrie White. However, the two actors doing the mother and daughter roles are favorites of mine. I’m hoping for the best.

I haven`t seen the original so I have no comparison but I`m digging this trailer! It looks pretty awesome! Mostly because I think Chloe Grace Moretz can pull off these crazy chick roles and Julianne Moore seems to be pretty kickass in this as well 🙂
