Gravity (Trailer #1) Review

I like this trailer it’s got a good realistic feel to it. The visuals look great and it’s an intriguing idea, truly scary because they are alone and if they lose their grip they are gone forever. When I first watched this trailer I thought it was a nightmare I had once (I have nerdy dreams) and obviously to me feels frightening. There’s a scene that got to me, just got chills when that astronaut floats away into the darkness. The director of Children of Men is behind this one and whilst that film isn’t my favourite the concepts where fantastic. The cast is really small for a big budget film, with a grand total of two. Sandra Bullock and George Clooney will be our brave space walkers. My prediction is that one dies and one cries, mwahahahaha!

My Score: B+

Release date: 4th October 2013

Dr. Ryan Stone (Bullock) is a medical engineer on her first Space Shuttle mission and is accompanied by veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney), who is in command of the shuttle flight, due to be his last. During a spacewalk, the space shuttle is destroyed, and Stone and Kowalsky are stranded in space with no communications with Earth.

Top 6 Scenes

6. Great Shots of Earth

I cannot wait to see all these beautiful images of earth from high orbit. This shot looks like the aurora borealis, probably wrong but I am sticking with it. The visuals look gorgeous and you can really see the large budget at work. I do fear that the film won’t make as much money as it cost because it just feels like a niche film market to cash in on.

5. Damn Space Debris!

Oh snap that came out of nowhere. The pace and thrills just escalate massively in this scene and it has some great visuals. I am guessing that thing hitting the arm is some space junk, certainly hope it is because it’s a real problem up in our outer atmosphere and makes it more realistic and possible.

4. Grab The Rope!!!

This is a situation where I know I would be an absolute goner. I’d miss the rope and be fat blob exploding in re-entry. Ha ha keep that imagery in your minds.

3. Look At All The Bits

Got to say the intricate detail in that explosion is amazing. Normally in these things its 5 pieces of something big like sheets of metal, well no it’s actually made of thousands of small pieces of which fly in all directions in space.

2. The Bits Are On Fire!

Dear god no! Not my bits, not the glorious bits scrap. Looks pretty cool though, something I would like to see through a telescope. The kind of reminds me of the Transformers scene when they all come to earth.

1. Into Darkness

Terrifying, just plain terrifying. Think about just losing your grip and never being able to get back. Nobody could come get you, you can’t get back and you will just float away with no hope of survival. Your only choices are how you die; Thirst, freezing or lift your helmet off so that the air in your blood forces its way out.

New Poster

Well that’s my views. Now what do you think about this newest trailer?

yep. Terrifying. You and I had the same feelings and thoughts watching this trailer.

that pic of the astronaut “into darkness” is so telling. a nightmare for sure!

great review. I hope this one is super good

    • Tim The Film Guy says :

I hope the film isn’t the trailer stretched out to 90 minutes. That’s the problem I had with Children of Men. Looks good though and with big stars and a big budget I have high hopes 😀

  3. Erik says :

I have just seen this trailer on big screen. Looks even better!! 🙂

  4. adlibitur90 says :

That trailer surprisingly gave me the heebie-jeebies.

  5. ruth says :

I’ve got to admit the Bullock/Clooney pairing as astronauts are pretty odd, but I’d watch this for Cuarón. Like you said in the previous comment, I think Bullock is best in comedies!

  6. sanclementejedi says :

Damn, I wasn’t expecting that! first time watching that trailer that looks crazy.

  7. Hypersonic55 says :

Jesus that looks proper freaky. I get a lot of Moon vibes from this film in terms of the atmosphere and tone, but it looks a little more dangerous and action-based (not in genre but what’s going on in the actual film). I’ve heard a lot of talk about this film but not seen anything until the trailer came out, I’m definitely looking out for this one.

  8. atothewr says :

That trailer is intense. Nice review.

  9. keith7198 says :

Really looks good! I saw it online but then got to see it in 3D on the big screen ahead of Gatsby. Wow!

  10. lukebbtt says :

This looks terrifying. Adding it to the watchlist.

  11. Tom says :

Pretty stoked about this one. It looks like it could pack a punch, i hope the intensity in the drama of the situation is like that in Taken. .. . the first ONE! (before they screwed up and made 2). seriously, this thing looks like it could be crazy. glad u posted this

  12. r361n4 says :

With an 80 million dollar budget I’m afraid you’re probably right that it won’t make it all back, but you can definitely sign me up for it at least. And I’m going to go ahead and take your word for the Aurora borealis 😀

    • Tim The Film Guy says :

Oh its never seeing that money again but it should be fun for the few who do go see it 😀

I think its the Aurora borealis, I maybe wrong because it does look really big on the trailer, could be that film maker is taking liberties 😀

  13. Gary Smith says :

First time even hearing about the film, but the trailer looks pretty darn good. Definitely going to be on my radar now.

  14. Nick Powell says :

A+++++++++++++++++++. Cannot wait for this. Saw the trailer in 3D and it looked incredible. Added an entire new level to the depth of space. I’m also a sucker for minimalistic sci-fi movies, so I’m sold. Throw in Cauron’s name and I cannot wait.

  15. Ryan says :

Been looking forward to this for a while. Cauron is absolutely amazing.

  16. filmhipster says :

Looks bad ass! Too bad Sandra Bullock is in it though.
