V/H/S/2 (Red Band Trailer #1) Review

I was going to just review the green band trailer but that’s not how things happen around here, so for those of you with a weaker stomach here is the Green Band Trailer which is pretty similar. I enjoyed the first film but felt like with most anthology horror films some of the segments where stronger than others, not big problem but certainly room for improvement and what I have heard recently sounds like this film is strides better than the first. The sequel has some interesting segments and with impressive directors behind them this should be interesting to see. From the directors of The Raid, Your Next, Hobo with a Shotgun, The Blair Witch Project which are all pretty good films and some are just excellent, can’t wait for The Raids directed segment. I do love how difficult this trailer was to take screenshots of, a horrible combination of both handheld and horror just to make life difficult. Enjoy the blood soaked review and by that I mean I got a particularly bad paper cut whilst writing this.

My Score: B

Release date: 6th June 2013

Searching for a missing student, two private investigators break into his house and find collection of VHS tapes. Viewing the horrific contents of each cassette, they realize there may be dark motives behind the student’s disappearance.

Top 6 Scenes

6. Synchronized Suicide

The newest Olympic event. The scene is less impressive in the green band trailer but seeing the full bloody mess is quite shocking; hope it’s a segment full of weird and disturbing imagery and I am guessing from the director of Hobo with a Shotgun.

5. You’re Too Happy!

General rule if you are surrounded by people, be afraid if they are happier looking than you and if they just look like that one in middle, yeah she’s gonna wear my skin.

4. ALIENS!!!

Love me some aliens, can’t go wrong with a little green in your horror film (actually you really can) and this shot looks great, classic extra-terrestrial creepiness. Also didn’t get this the first time I saw the trailer but the camera is actually fixed to the top of a dog’s head, inspired found footage.

3. And Now The Back Stroke

Nope won’t be able to sit through scenes like this. Slight fear of drowning, not a phobia because its common sense! Especially when monsters drag you down to the bottom and hold you there screaming until you drown 😦

2. Your Days Not Gonna Get Any Better

Covered in blood, driving a car very fast through a forest and with a terrified look on his face, then boom something smashes into the side of the car and the video cuts out. Looking good, can’t wait for monsters.

1. Ahhhhhh! Scary Alien!

Ahahahaha I’d like to see anyone get close to the still I managed to grab. So damn quick and super creepy! I think the alien thing takes the kid but he’s looking right at the dog with the camera mounted on the small dog, have I said how much I like the dog cam in a found footage horror film?

New Poster

Well that’s my views. Now what do you think about this newest trailer?

I thought the first one was decent enough so I’m kind of excited for this one, although I am sick of the hand held camera style … literally. It gives me motion sickness watching films like that!

Besides Only God Forgives, this is my most anticipated film of the summer.
