I was extremely critical of Blomkampf after Elysium, and no less so in preparation for this film. However I actually really liked it. He has redeemed himself in part to me anyway. Chappie has a message or two that really work. It’s not about the danger of AI, it’s about how dangerous humanity can be when faced with change. Or how innocence can be corrupted? Its got like five messages floating round. Just pick one and go with it.
I’ll go into more detail below but give it a try, got trailers and images below. Check it all out and give me a like and a comment at the end.
Moon is a fascinating film with a tiny cast, small budget, and being only 90 minutes long is far better than most films I normally watch. Sam Rockwell is excellent in this film! If you haven’t seen him in Seven Psychopaths please do because he is great. The visual effects are really surprising and for the life of me I don’t know how Duncan Jones pulled this off with $5M, most couldn’t do it half as well with $50M. This film is Kind of hard to review without spoilers so just expect a few.
“You look like a radioactive tampon… like a banana with a yeast infection.”
Not what I was expecting at all. The first of big science fiction films coming out this spring and it was surprising treat both in its original story and breath taking visuals. If you have seen the trailer and made your mind up think again because it really goes in different directions and I hope everyone goes out to give it a go. The acting was very good, the characters were good and the dialogue was good. It may not be for everyone but I struggle to find any complaints and have plenty to compliment as you will find as you read on. I would recommend the IMAX as it’s a great film with eye popping visuals. There will be a spoiler section but other than that this is spoiler free so no need to worry. Leave any comments below I look forward to hearing everyone’s views.
I thought whilst I was on a 90’s theme of films I would keep it going until I see some new films in cinema. So with that in mind here is one film of Stallone’s that I really have a lot of fun watching, not because of it being good but because of its fantastically funny satire and character relationships between its main cast. I have a sneaking suspicion that this film is why Stallone was picked for the Judge Dredd role, not a good choice to make really as they went so similar but tried with the Dredd material and they don’t mix well. Either way by the end of the film you’ll be asking yourself ‘would I eat a rat burger?’
