I was extremely critical of Blomkampf after Elysium, and no less so in preparation for this film. However I actually really liked it. He has redeemed himself in part to me anyway. Chappie has a message or two that really work. It’s not about the danger of AI, it’s about how dangerous humanity can be when faced with change. Or how innocence can be corrupted? Its got like five messages floating round. Just pick one and go with it.
I’ll go into more detail below but give it a try, got trailers and images below. Check it all out and give me a like and a comment at the end.
FIRST TRAILER REVIEW OF 2015! I wasn’t really into the first trailer because it seemed to show pretty generic stuff for a first trailer and am a bit sore from Elysium (So disappointing) so I didn’t review it. Also no time. This I liked though, the idea of AI is fascinating and it’s always a good sci fi concept. The idea of replacing police with robots is giving me very vivid RoboCop flash backs. But I’ll wait and see. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.
“I am consciousness. I am alive. I am Chappie”
Before I start reviewing the trailer I want to say that I know the story arc and how mad it gets, and I was pretty sure Bryan Singer couldn’t handle it. Looking at the trailer I now know he cannot handle it, but he can strip it of most of its parts and drop a steaming pile on a brilliant adaptation opportunity. At this point I wouldn’t even watch this film, hope they show a better trailer or make a better movie. There are some good points to the trailer and I will give my views on both sides of the coin but I have a great deal of disappointment with the way the film looks so far. I really hope come next year that I will eat my own words but it would have to be a different film then advertised. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.
“I don’t want your suffering, I don’t want your future!”
I can’t seem to review this film without spoilers so be warned there are spoilers. I have been convinced to see this film through bloggers and friends. Not the type of films I would review, various reasons for that but I did and it was a good film, it’s just not my cup of tea, great film just not one I’d watch again but I would recommend it to others. It’s a very thrilling film and if I had kids it would disturb me a great deal. The acting is brilliant and whilst the film is horrendously long the story is griping throughout. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
“Every day she’s wondering why I’m not there!!! Not you, but me!!!”
This film is surprisingly good. I supremely did not expect to be saying that but I truly mean it. I am a big fan of the comic series this film is based on which is called Wolverine and whilst this film played a little fast and loose with this material, overall they managed to adapt the main story pretty well. I’d actually go as far as to say this film was one of the best X-Men films. The characters where good, the story was fresher than most and there was a distinctive style somewhere between the comic it is based on and the X-Men film series. I do have some complaints and nit-picking so read on. “Eternity can be a curse. The losses you have had to suffer… a man can run out of things to care for, lose his purpose. You have struggled long enough. I can end your eternity… Our company can do anything. I can make you mortal.”
Okay so right off the bat I was way off with my Prediction, way off! And with that whimpering weekend total the summer blockbuster season has ended. So with that in mind these predictions will become less frequent, for example nothing interesting is coming out next weekend but I will be posting my predictions for 9-11th August. Go watch some movies!
I don’t see anything special happening this weekend as we all know who’s going to win out. I am of course referring to The Wolverine, the only big player releasing this weekend. What I am interested in seeing is how well the returning films do on their second weekend. How will The Conjuring hold up to a second weekend? Because the The Purge dropped massively, and of course we have the other three releases. Look on for my analysis and go out to see some films. And I still haven’t forgotten about Pacific Rim!
I was seriously hoping this film would be good because as of yet I haven’t seen the character Wolverine displayed to its full potential. After watching this trailer 12 times I think I understand what’s going on and I approve of the story. Pretty sure I know what will be going on because I have read this specific comic arc and whilst at first I thought it was going in a different direction I actually see what they have done with the trailer and they are being sneaky! I’ll discuss what I mean in a spoiler section at the end. The visuals look great and claws look much better than the origins film. Jackman looks on fighting form, seriously how does he not age? Is he wolverine? What’s happening? Check out the trailer and my favourite scenes plus my spoiler section at the end.
