The first film was in that category of its cheesy and totally grindhouse mad and whilst both of those apply to this there is also a lot WHAT?! Going on that makes this more of an “it’s so bad its good” category which is fine as well if you are in the mood for it. I still had a really good laugh watching it and if you have friends who don’t mind the first film then you will have a ball! This is going to be a short review because the only way I can really describe this film is how I’d say never to make a film. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
“Machete don’t tweet.” Loves him some helicopter kills though!
Iron Man 3 the first of this summer’s superhero films was very good but not the best. The story is strong and draws this strength from a brilliant comic arc which is one of my favourites called Extremis, it did take some liberties. The acting was great benefiting from some fantastic new additions to the cast, Pierce, Kingsley. Good dialogue but I expect something juicy to quote from, like a villain (Complaints for this are in spoiler section) or Hero. As a superhero film something was just off, still very good but some themes just didn’t work for me. The visuals are amazing and will in no way disappoint, the new extremis armour is great and you get to see a lot of interesting tech and powers. “Do you want an empty life or a meaningful death?”
Not as bad as some say, but still the worst of the Die Hard series and to be honest doesn’t really feel like a Die Hard film. The film has a vast contrast between its good parts and bad parts, we have really good visuals and a few great action scenes, but on the other hand you have a very weak story and some of the most pathetic characters and dialogue you have ever heard. How you can make a Die Hard film without a good villain is beyond my understanding (I’ll talk about the dancer later). The acting and characters where basically non-existent for the bad guys and as for the good we have a Bruce Willis with what looks like no script and Jai Courtney pulling some of the funniest faces I have ever seen in an action film. As for the relationship between them I could have done without it. Do I want a 6? Yes but for the love of god get a good script and Villain.
Keeping with the Christmas reviews, I thought it would be necessary to include Christmas Vacation as a personal favourite in the slap stick category. To me this is probably one of the funniest films about a family Christmas I can think of and so many laugh out loud moments you’ll want to watch it every year. The funniest thing about this film is its story of a dad trying to create the perfect Christmas with the whole family, although this has been tried many times over this is one of the only ones that I thought were really funny. Of course it doesn’t hurt to be a fan of the national lampoons films when watching this but I know it’s still good if you don’t know any of the other films. Enjoy the review and I hope you get a chance to watch this at the holidays.
