I know this review is a bit late but this had to be reviewed because it looks amazing. I didn’t review the first trailer because I viewed it more as a teaser, this however is the real deal. Wow I mean who thought an apes film could be made this seriously, I mean this looks brilliant. Andy Serkis is bringing Ceaser to life and giving him real presence. The cast looks strong and the plot sounds fascinating. The themes and music also impress me. I cannot wait for this film, its easily one of my most anticipated of the year. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.
“We’ve been through hell together! We spent four years, FOUR YEARS fighting that virus, and then another four fighting each other! It was chaos!”
I really liked the first, one of my favourite horror films and I am glad the sequel didn’t disappoint. Getting a sequel right it very difficult and isn’t achieved very often especially when the original is as good as ‘28 Day Later’. How did the sequel get it right then, well it started as strong as possible with a great atmosphere and amazing acting from the always brilliant Robert Carlyle. They got the streets empty, the actors are good, the virus is insanely violent and the story actually makes some kind of sense unlike most sequels. Considering the fact that there is a new director it still has a remarkably resemblance of the first film so kudos to Mr Juan Carlos Fresnadillo for his first English speaking film. Sadly however he has done a great deal since this film but at least he had this success.
Really weird film but I’ll be damned if I didn’t really enjoy watching it. This film is one of the best things to watch at Halloween because it is kind of a spoof sequel to one of the most classic zombie films ‘Night of the Living Dead’. That I believe is one of the films strengths in that it is done by people who know horror and wanted to add some dark humour to the genre and this worked perfectly in this film. Interestingly enough the two creators split their efforts when it came to the sequels and we had this film from Russo and Dawn of the Dead from Romero.
The gang are back and much more mature haha nah if anything they haven’t learned anything which is fine by me because it brings us a great end to the franchise. Otherwise it’s still just a fun watch. In the comedy American Reunion, all the American Pie characters we met a little more than a decade ago return to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn’t and that time and distance can’t break the bonds of friendship. Tim’s Film Reviews Recommended.
