I was extremely critical of Blomkampf after Elysium, and no less so in preparation for this film. However I actually really liked it. He has redeemed himself in part to me anyway. Chappie has a message or two that really work. It’s not about the danger of AI, it’s about how dangerous humanity can be when faced with change. Or how innocence can be corrupted? Its got like five messages floating round. Just pick one and go with it.
I’ll go into more detail below but give it a try, got trailers and images below. Check it all out and give me a like and a comment at the end.
FIRST TRAILER REVIEW OF 2015! I wasn’t really into the first trailer because it seemed to show pretty generic stuff for a first trailer and am a bit sore from Elysium (So disappointing) so I didn’t review it. Also no time. This I liked though, the idea of AI is fascinating and it’s always a good sci fi concept. The idea of replacing police with robots is giving me very vivid RoboCop flash backs. But I’ll wait and see. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.
“I am consciousness. I am alive. I am Chappie”
Open Grave is a compete mystery. The whole way through this film I had my brain on override to figure what the hell was going on, normally in horror films especially I get what’s happening and I have a good guess how it will end. This though, no idea until it revealed what was happening at the end. So to summarise it’s a horror film with a lot suspense and clues so small/scattered that it will keep you guessing until the end. Really hard to review this without spoilers so preper for a lot of them. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
“I feel like I’ve done something I wasn’t proud of, that I might not have liked the man I was”
Not a great weekend for the box office. Got some sad failures and some funny failures but no run away hits I am afraid. This weekend is actually quite important as it is the last weekend of big budget summer releases, sad that it didn’t do too well but there is only so much a film can do to get an audience. Go watch some movies!
A real predictor can do this before the weekend. Or I forgot to write something and had to quickly write. Ha let’s see what we got coming out this weekend. On Wednesday we have two new releases Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters and We’re the Millers, spoiler alert I think they will bomb. And as for Friday releases we have two more which are Elysium (Excited) and Planes. Go watch some movies!
I don’t usually review trailers for straight to DVD films but this looked interesting and somebody asked me to review it, can’t remember who so sorry about that but here my review. Right from the get go I like the feel, it’s very realistic and grounded with what looks like a slightly futuristic look at space exploration. The idea of physically looking for signs of extra-terrestrial life intrigues me and from what I see they find something, is it good? Nope because that would be a boring film and this looks thrilling. The film has a surprisingly big name Sharto Copley! The guy can’t get enough of aliens and sci fi so he joins the smaller films as well. Love this comment on the trailer “Those damn prawns won’t leave Wikus alone!” kevinbrueck.
Finally one of my most anticipated films of the year has a trailer and it looks kick ass! They also released more plot details and a whole host of movie stills here. I am ridiculously excited about this film, I have even written articles on it and am a massive fan of Neill Blomkamp after District 9 (where’s that sequel?) the greatest original alien film for a while. First the good (is there bad) this trailer doesn’t reveal much of anything which I like, keep the mystery in this relationship. It has beautiful visuals showing what giving creative people money looks like. The bad, I have to wait until September. September! What do you think I am reasonable? I want it now. As for the rest of the trailer please read on for my favourite scenes.
