X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) Review

X-Men Days of Future Past is certainly one of the better X-Men films although to me it’s not the best. The acting and style of the 70’s timeline was excellent. The human (or mutant) element was strong throughout the film especially between Xavier and Erik which is a necessity for an X-Men franchise. The story was fresh and benefitted from adapting a brilliant comic story arc, and even if the film didn’t quite live up to that story it still had a deeper concept at its core. The visuals are great and from the mutant powers to the near costume drama set up by the 70’s timeline. Bryan Singer went back into his franchise with ease and whilst I still think Mathew Vaughn’s interpretation of the franchise was better this was still a fine X-Men film. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.

Magneto: “Maybe you should have fought harder for them.”

X-Men: Days Of Future Past (Trailer #1) Review

Before I start reviewing the trailer I want to say that I know the story arc and how mad it gets, and I was pretty sure Bryan Singer couldn’t handle it. Looking at the trailer I now know he cannot handle it, but he can strip it of most of its parts and drop a steaming pile on a brilliant adaptation opportunity. At this point I wouldn’t even watch this film, hope they show a better trailer or make a better movie. There are some good points to the trailer and I will give my views on both sides of the coin but I have a great deal of disappointment with the way the film looks so far. I really hope come next year that I will eat my own words but it would have to be a different film then advertised. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.

The Wolverine (2013) Review

This film is surprisingly good. I supremely did not expect to be saying that but I truly mean it. I am a big fan of the comic series this film is based on which is called Wolverine and whilst this film played a little fast and loose with this material, overall they managed to adapt the main story pretty well. I’d actually go as far as to say this film was one of the best X-Men films. The characters where good, the story was fresher than most and there was a distinctive style somewhere between the comic it is based on and the X-Men film series. I do have some complaints and nit-picking so read on. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.

“Eternity can be a curse. The losses you have had to suffer… a man can run out of things to care for, lose his purpose. You have struggled long enough. I can end your eternity… Our company can do anything. I can make you mortal.”

The Wolverine (Trailer #1) Review

I was seriously hoping this film would be good because as of yet I haven’t seen the character Wolverine displayed to its full potential. After watching this trailer 12 times I think I understand what’s going on and I approve of the story. Pretty sure I know what will be going on because I have read this specific comic arc and whilst at first I thought it was going in a different direction I actually see what they have done with the trailer and they are being sneaky! I’ll discuss what I mean in a spoiler section at the end. The visuals look great and claws look much better than the origins film. Jackman looks on fighting form, seriously how does he not age? Is he wolverine? What’s happening? Check out the trailer and my favourite scenes plus my spoiler section at the end.
